Along with the lovely sunshine and the promise of new beginnings, BayCISS is a hive of activity at the moment.
Lennie’s Van has just completed their last lunch for the term before they take a little break over the school holidays. The staff and students of St Leonard’s College do an amazing job of providing free lunches to community members on a fortnightly basis. These lunches consist of substantial options including fresh, homemade soups, rolls, baked goods, fruit and even some vegies to take home. They even offer a take away service for snacks later on! Our service users and the school community really enjoy the opportunity for a decent feed and a lovely chat – the sunshine just makes it all the more enjoyable!
Thanks to the fabulous team work of the Bayside Men’s Shed, Castlefield Community Centre staff, Moorabbin Bunnings, BayCISS volunteers, Bayside City Council and the Campeyn Group, our front garden now boasts a cute little street library for all to enjoy. Street Libraries are popping up all over suburbs of Melbourne as a wonderful way to share a love of reading, give old books new life, offer an opportunity to donate, and a cheap way to access new titles.
If you are passing by on any day – have a look and utilise the library; or any second Tuesday – stop in for a bite to eat and a chat!
